Demonstrate a sincere interest in music, including those who major or minor in music
Complete at least one semester of OR be currently enrolled in one or more music courses
Achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
Meet local Member-in-Training requirements

To respect the authority of chapter, province and national officers
To refrain from the discussion of internal fraternity affairs with non-members, unless they are chapter advisors

To wear the badge as an introduction to all Sigma Alpha Iota collegiate, alumnae, and distinguished members.
To impact music around the world utilizing Sigma Alpha Iota resources.

To promote American music, contribute to Sigma Alpha Iota’s philanthropic projects, and participate in the Fraternity’s scholarship and grant programs.

FAQ's
Do you have to be a music major or minor to join?
Nope! ΣAI is open to all women who meet the eligibility requirements, which means that you do not have to be a music major or minor to join.
What are the membership requirements for freshmen?
You must have a college GPA of at least 2.5 to be eligible for membership. This means that freshmen must wait until the Spring semester to go through recruitment, but they are more than welcome to come to our Sisterhood events through the Fall semester to get to know us!
Does MUS 156 at Wingate count as a required music course?
Yes! MUS 156 (Global Influences on Music in the USA) counts as a required music course for membership.

How is ΣAI categorized in Wingate's Greek life?
While ΣAI is based in music, we are classified as a business/academic organization​. We are not affiliated with the NPC or NPHC.
Do you have to register for recruitment?
Nope! Just be sure to show up to as many events as you can, especially the final event!​
I'm a member of a Panhellenic organization. Can I still join ΣAI?
Yes! Members of any Wingate's Panhellenic organizations (Alpha Omicron Pi, Tri Sigma, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega) are eligible for ΣAI recruitment.
Do you have to pay to go through recruitment?
Nope! Recruitment is free and open to all women who meet the membership requirements!​
Sigma Alpha Iota is an organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Members of ΣΑΙ are active in all areas of campus music and campus life, working closely with faculty, administration, campus and community groups, music professionals and patrons. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships and awards in many areas and at all levels of music-related study. Sigma Alpha Iota has long been recognized as a leader in the field of music and provides a lifetime of fraternity contact.
