The Mu Lambda chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was installed on April 26, 2014, with seventeen charter members. As of December 14, 2019, Mu Lambda has eleven (11) active sisters and one (1) Patroness member. Mu Lambda is a member of the Tau B Province in Region VI (6), which includes chapters in the Piedmont and Mountain regions of North Carolina, including the Epsilon Theta, Lambda Beta, Eta Theta, and Kappa Gamma chapters as well as the Charlotte and Asheville Alumnae chapters.

Mu Lambda quickly formed a relationship with the Union County Symphony Orchestra and has volunteered at concerts and fundraisers for them in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Other opportunities that the sisters have had include hosting a Broadway Musicale at Wingate University and entertaining and helping out at a birthday party of a child of a Wingate staff member. The sisters have also helped parents at senior recitals host a reception afterward. In January 2015, Mu Lambda held its first recruitment and had twelve members-in-training (MITs) who took their pledge to join SAI on February 1st, 2015. Recruitments are now held in Spring semesters when freshmen will be eligible to join. On April 2nd, 2016, Mu Lambda hosted their first Tau B Province Day and it was successful in bringing Tau B together in music and sisterhood. Members of Mu Lambda also accompany the Wingate Choir on international trips and have been on the 2015 and 2019 trips to Johannesburg, South Africa and the 2015 trip to Austria.
